The Data Engineering Laboratory (DEnLab) was founded in September of
2002. DEnlab is a research laboratory in the Department of Computer and
Information Sciences and the Center for Information Science and
Technology at Temple University. It is devoted to excellence in research
and teaching in biomedical informatics, data mining, data compression
and multimedia database systems. The mission of the laboratory is to
create an advanced research group dedicated to perform scholarly work in
these areas while promoting interdisciplinary learning. Our work is
supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and the
National Institutes of Health. The laboratory has collaborations with
several investigators from Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics,
Diagnostic Imaging, Radiology, Psychology, Neurology, Psychiatry,
Medicine, and Biology. Products of this work (i.e., software tools,data
